swissnex Brazil will have the honor to welcome professor Dirk Helbing in Rio de Janeiro on December 20th, when the physicist will present a keynote and participate in a roundtable with other experts. Helbing is a professor at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich on the Computational Social Science at Humanities, Social and Political Sciences Department. He is often recognized as one of the world’s top futurists and member of the German Academy of Sciences and the World Academy of Art and Science. His work is documented by hundreds of media reports and publications, among them more than ten papers in Nature, Science, and PNAS. He won various prizes, including the Idee Suisse Award. The roundtable The Digital Revolution: Why it will start a new Era of Human History is going to be an exceptional opportunity to look on a team of experts and special guests engaging in a fruitful conversation about challenges of our time and the future. The debate will happen with the participation of the following experts:

Eduardo Magrani – Coordinator of Law and Technology at ITS Rio and Professor of Law and Technology and Intellectual Property at FGV Law School.
Hans Herrmann – ETH Zurich and Federal University of Ceara. Hans is a theoretical physicist and full Professor at the Institute of Building Materials at ETH as well as at the Federal University of Ceara. Living partly in Brazil for 15 years, he is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Science. He is an expert in complex networks, which can be the internet, social organizations, energy and transport systems or even the brain.
