Press Release: swissnex Brazil presents Science Week at House of Switzerland

swissnex Brazil, the Swiss innovation, science, arts and education hub in Brazil, will hold a week of activities related to science and technology from 22 to 29 June 2014 at the House of Switzerland in Palaphita Kitch at Lagoa.
As part of the country communications program of the Swiss government and its presence in Rio de Janeiro, swissnex Brazil will focus on highlighting the excellence of the Swiss education, science and innovation to the Brazilian and international visitors of the House of Switzerland.
Activities during the Science Week will include a swissnex Science Lounge with an interactive concept that brings the public closer to the Swiss science and innovation system. Amongst others, there will be an oversized DNA structure that visitors can help building with personalized balls, all the while entering into a lottery for some amazing prizes. Moreover, the swissnex Science Lounge will be a space for encounter where visitors can learn something new and discover other sides of Switzerland.
On Saturday 28 June from 2 pm onwards, a Science Day will be organized targeting the younger public. This will be a day full of activities for children from around eight to fourteen years old and will include scientific experiments and competitions. The children will be able to observe the sky through a solar telescope, participate in a paper airplane competition and even learn how to make snow! For this day swissnex Brazil counts with the valuable contribution of the Escola Suíça-Brasileira as well as with the Museu de Astronomia e Ciências Afins (MAST) of Rio de Janeiro who will introduce an astronomy aspect to the program.
The Science Week and Science Day are a consequence of the newly opened office of swissnex Brazil, one of 6 offices located in the most innovative hubs around the world, which is building up its permanent presence in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo this year.
