Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff announces funding of R$ 1.5 billion to build institutes of innovation and technology
President Rousseff calls for more investments in innovation to drive economic growth.
She pledged funding of R$ 1.5 billion from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) for the construction of 25 Institutes of Innovation of the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service (SENAI) and 60 SENAI Institutes of Technology. “This will greatly contribute to the incorporation of innovation in the productive process, allowing Brazil to take a qualitative leap in its growth”, stated Rousseff.
In addition, the federal government promised to invest R$ 14 billion in the National Program
for Access to Technical Education and Employment (Pronatec) until the end of the year.
