ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports incoming fellowships for postdoctoral researchers at the ETH Zurich. The program is intended to foster high-potential, young researchers, who have already demonstrated excellence in terms of internationally competitive achievements in the early stages of their professional careers. Applications have to be made jointly by the candidate and their host who must be an ETH Zurich Professor and who will act as a mentor to the fellow. The duration of an ETH Fellowship is two years.
Destination(s): ETH Zurich, Zurich or Basel, Switzerland
Eligibility criteria: Eligible are young postdoctoral scientists worldwide, who have been awarded their doctoral degree within two years of the relevant submission deadline. The applicants need to have at least one scientific publication in a peer-reviewed journal or have been awarded a prize for their PhD thesis.
Exception: Postdoctoral scientists who have obtained a doctoral degree from the ETH Zurich or the University of Zurich cannot apply for this fellowship program. Also not eligible are postdoctoral scientists who performed their main activities (work, studies etc.) at one of the two institutions for more than six months prior to the relevant submission deadline.
Selection criteria: Applications will be assessed against criteria addressing the candidate’s aptitude, the quality of the proposed research and the synergy with the host lab. Successful applications must be convincing in all respects.
Duration of the fellowship: The duration of an ETH Fellowship two years and cannot be prolonged.

Contribution for the researcher: Indicative average value of 100’000 CHF/year including full social security.
Research cost contribution and Travel/Mobility allowance: up to 12’000 CHF/year
