Cybathlon

On the 7 and 8 September the House of Switzerland Brazil 2016 will receive an exclusive sneak-peek into Cybathlon, an event which will be held on 8 October 2016 organized by the Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETH Zurich) and which will also have a Brazilian participant with the Empowering Mobility & Autonomy team from the Universidade Nacional de Brasília (UNB). Individuals with physical disabilities will compete side by side in six demanding disciplines, using the latest assistive technologies.

After the hands-on demonstrations of 7 September we will venture a bit further into the world of assistive technologies with the following program:

Program: 8 September 2016, 9:30 – 12:30

  • Opening and welcome words, Gioia Deucher, CEO swissnex Brazil
  • Introduction of Cybathlon, Prof. Peter Wolf, ETH Zürich
  • Empowering Mobility & Autonomy Group, Prof. Antônio Padilha, Universidade Nacional de Brasília
  • Panel Discussion “The role of science & technology in improving the mobility of disabled persons”
